Bucket wheel excavators
Giant bucket wheel excavators are some of the largest mining equipment on earth. The excavating giants from ThyssenKrupp are custom designed and built for the specific operating conditions and the production rates for each open pit mine. Currently attained production rates are up to 240,000 m³ (bank) per day, digging heights of as much as 100 m and service weights of 13,500 tonnes.


The standard and compact bucket wheel excavator series were designed to suit the requirements of open pit mining and earthmoving operations with small and medium production rates. Standardization of components and extensive preassembly of the equipment have significantly reduced the cost of these machines. The effective capacity ranges from 4,000 to 65,000 m/day.
